Cheap Trick to Perform at the Earth Day Rally on the National Mall

Cheap Trick have announced that they have been added to this year’s Mobilize the Earth™ rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. as part of Earth Day, which will take place on 22nd April and will be broadcast liva via earthday.org. The event will see civic leaders and government officials from Rev. Jesse Jackson to Mayor Vincent Gray speaking out to the thousands-strong crowd, while other acts to perform onstage will include Kicking Daisies, The Explorers Club and Dave Mason, best known for his work with Traffic.

Cheap Trick formed in Illinois in the early 1970s and released their eponymous debut in 1977. Their first US Top Ten hit came with a live version of I Want You To Want Me two years later, which would remain their highest charting single until the release of The Flame in 1988. Unlike many of their peers, the line-up for the band remains the same one that first emerged in over thirty-five years ago, although bassist Tom Petersson left for several years during the 1980s, before rejoining the group for the recording of Lap of Luxuty in 1988. To date, Cheap Trick have sold over twenty million records, with 1979′s Dream Police being the most successful.
