It has been twenty years since they last released an album of new material but Pixies still remain a popular live act. Having split in the early 1990s, following four full length records and an EP that influenced such artists as Nirvana and U2, the band eventually reformed in 2004 and have remained on the road since then. During one of their earlier tours following their comeback, the band recorded each performance and then fans were able to order copies of their favourite shows online.
On Friday, April 22nd, Pixies appeared at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. Opening with the track Dancing the Manta Ray, fans were treated to nineteen of the band’s most popular songs, before returning for two encores. The last would include Where is My Mind? (perhaps most known for its inclusion in David Fincher’s Fight Club and the suggestive classic Gigantic.
