Although they have spent the last twenty years trying to escape the stigma of their hair metal hit Cherry Pie, former glam metallers Warrant continue to record and perform with an ever-changing line-up. With ex-frontman Jani Lane pursuing other projects, the band’s last release, 2006’s Born Again, featured Jaime St. James on vocals, although he was later replaced by Lane, before Robert Mason joined in 2008. The core line-up still consists of guitarists Joey Allen and Erik Turner, bassist Jerry Dixon and drummer Steven Sweet, all of whom were members during the group’s heyday.
Warrant began pre-production on their eighth studio album on Tuesday and entered the studio to commence the recording sessions earlier today. Via their Twitter page the band said; “3 days of Pre Production is finished and the songs are sounding pretty fuggin good, we officially start recording the new Warrant CD today!”
Warrant hit the road on January 28th for a short US tour, with the first two dates seeing them appear with fellow ’80s rockers L.A. Guns.
