Cult label Matador Records is set to celebrate its twenty-first birthday in style by hosting a party in Las Vegas. Having originally been created in a New York apartment in 1989 the company has gained acclaim over the years through their work with such artists as Lou Reed, Interpol and Mogwai. Spin reports that the label is set to host a three-night event that will see Sonic Youth, who left their long-time home of Geffen for Matador for last year’s The Eternal, headlining one night, whilst Pavement and Belle & Sebastian handle the other two. The diverse range of music on offer will include Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Superchunk and The New Pornographers. More information, including ticket prices, will be announced on the label’s site over the next few days.
