Later this month the Smashing Pumpkins are set to release their seventh convetional album (not counting the download only Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music and Teargarden by Kaleidyscope) entitled Oceania. Despite frontman Billy Corgan having dismissed recording a traditional album again, following the disappointing reception of 2007′s Zeitgeist, the band will be releasing the record on June 19th. To celebrate the release of Oceania, they have launched a competition in which fans can attend the album release party alongside the group on a luxury cruise.
The event will take place on June 12th, with their official site stating; “Post a short essay on your Facebook wall telling us why you should be there! Tag the Smashing Pumpkins so we are sure to see it**. Let your Facebook and Twitter friends know the more “likes” and comments your post has, the better for you! The contest starts today (6/7) at noon central and runs through Saturday 6/9 at midnight central. Contest winners will be announced on Facebook & Twitter Monday morning at 10am central!”
