In 2008, Robert Greenwood’s exhaustive study of the making of a seminal classic, Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones, was published, which charted the making of the legendary band’s 1972 album. Greenwood, whose book received mostly negative reviews from Amazon users, had already explored the history of the group with S.t.p.: A Journey Through America With the Rolling Stones six years earlier.
Deadline report that Virgin Produced, the company owned by Richard Branson, has acquired the rights to the book and plan to develop the project alongside KippSter Entertainment and City Entertainment. According to the site; “Rene Rigal will oversee the project for Virgin Produced, with Joshua Maurer producing for City Entertainment and David Stern producing for KippSter Entertainment. This isn’t the only Rolling Stones film on the horizon. Brett Morgan is directing a doc on the band as part of the Stones’ 50th anniversary celebrations this year. The doc, distributed by Eagle Rock Entertainment, is out in September.”
