Last year Mike Patton released arguably the finest album of his career. Taking its name from the notorious Italian classic Mondo Cane, the album saw the unpredictable singer covering an array of pop songs from the 1950s and 1960s, sung completely in Spanish, and including a rendition of the track Deep Down from Mario Bava’s cult flick Danger: Diabolik.
Now Patton is reportedly planning a new album which will be based around Paolo Giordano’s best selling novel La solitudine dei numeri primi (The Solitude of Prime Numbers), which was adapted into a movie in 2010 starring Isabella Rossellini.
According NME; “The 16 track album is said to be ‘dramatic and minimalistic’ and has been described by Patton as a “sonic departure” from his usual style… Each song on the album is numbered after the first 16 prime numbers and the album itself will be released as a digipak in the style of a cut out leaf, which will contain an intricate locking mechanism.”
Music From the Film and Inspired By the Book The Solitude of Prime Numbers will be released on November 7th.
