To many Guns N’ Roses fans he was one of several critics to be immortalised in their 1991 song Get in the Ring as being one of the “punks in the press that want to start shit by printing lies, instead of the things we said,” but to readers of British magazine Kerrang! he was one of their most successful and acclaimed journalists during the late 1980s. Mick Wall’s latest book Metallica: Enter Night: The Biography was released last November to great acclaim and now he is currently working on his next music retrospective. In an interview with Pop Matters wall reveals it will be a “big fuck-off biography of AC/DC. For the same reasons I wrote the Metallica and Led Zeppelin books. Only better. Seriously… I didn’t write the book for fans and I didn’t write it for the band. I wrote it like I write all my books—for those of us who like good books. The story of Metallica is fascinating. Better than fiction. I felt it was time for a proper literary biography that was written for grown ups.”
I agree that a writer does all the hard work for readers that want to spent their free time reading a good book. The first book I read was the biography of Yury Mintskovsky and even if I wasn’t sure it will be a nice lecture, it prioved to be the most educative one I ever had.I learned so many things that I decided I will read only biographies and autobiographies.
