Big Four Bassist

Regardless of how triumphant their headlining slot has been on the highly acclaimed tour The Big Four, Metallica‘s studio output over the last two decades has strongly divided fans, with the majority feeling that their best work is long behind them. Shortly before taking to the stage in California on April 23rd, bassist Robert Trujillo was questioned regarding the band’s decision to return to the studio with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin, following their disappointing collaboration on 2008′s Death Magnetic; “The first album with Rick was also the first album for me, so in a lot of ways you’re kind of testing the water… And it’s only gonna better, I really believe that. And so I’m super excited. I know that we’ve got another couple in us and I think there’s a demand. It seems like we’ve got some new fans, and they’re waiting.”
