Joe Perry Talks About New Aerosmith Album

Honkin’ on Bobo could have been something special; with Aerosmith having returned to their original label, Columbia, a few years earlier, the 2004 album saw them collaborating with legendary producer Jack Douglas for the first time since Rock in a Hard Place twenty-two years earlier.

It has been eight years since the release of Honkin’ on Bobo, which featured only one new song, while the remaining eleven were reworkings of other artists, but the band are currently putting the final touches to their comeback album, which once again sees them working with Douglas.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Joe Perry discusses both the record and collaborating with Douglas once again; “It’s really close. We’ve started to mix. We’ve mixed a couple of the songs already, but I guess this week we’re really kind of rolling into mix mode. We have a couple of tracks left to finish up, just to put some overdubs on, but we’re kind of going from the final, final recording tracks to mixing this week… This was supposed to be the record that we did with him five years ago, but we ran out of time so we did the Honkin’ on Bobo blues record instead. We did that record kind of the same way we did this one, which is we all got in a room with Jack, as we used to back in the 1970s, and just hammered stuff out.”

I loved Honkin on Bo Bo and remember the little harmonica it came/w. There are a few bands out there i really wanted to see come back. Aerosmith aces it out everytime.
