Having spent the last few months singing with blues rockers Great White (best known for the late ’80s hit Once Bitten, Twice Shy), former Warrant singer Jani Lane is reportedly set to make his final appearance with the group on New Year’s Eve on Lake Vermilion.
Great White‘s frontman Jack Russell has spent the latter half of the year recovering from surgery after suffering from a perforated bowel and Lane, whose hits with Warrant included the hair metal classic Cherry Pie, served as a temporary replacement for Russell until he was healthy enough to resume his duties.
According to Timberjay.com; “Lane will be starting a new touring venture in February, so the Dec. 31 event at Fortune Bay Resort Casino could well be the last time he’ll perform with Great White… The pairing has been a good one, according to Lane, who spoke to the Timberjay this week. “It’s been fantastic,” said Lane. “I’ve been friends with Jack for decades and I told him I’d be happy to fill in for him”… Lane does get to strut his own stuff a bit during his performances with Great White. Fans can expect an acoustic set that harkens back to some of Lane’s own original work. For fans of Great White, however, there will be plenty to look forward to. They can expect to hear a number of standards, including Rock Me, Save All Your Love, Desert Moon, and Once Bitten Twice Shy. “Great White does an amazing version of that,” said Lane… Great White’s free New Year’s Eve performance kicks off at 10 p.m. and runs at least until the confetti drops and the champagne corks pop at midnight.”
