Way back when, Guns N’ Roses were the biggest rock group on the planet and frontman Axl Rose could do whatever he wanted. Drugs, internal conflicts and over-bloated follow-up albums have since diminished their effect but still Rose continues with new members, attempting to recapture their glory days. Whilst a recent announcement on Rose’s Twitter page claimed that the group would not be performing in the UK, Guns N’ Roses took to the stage last night to headline the first day of the long-running Reading festival, but events did not go as planned. According to MTV, the group arrived on stage an hour later than scheduled and were cut short during their encore as it had reached midnight and the festival was due to wrap up for the day. Rose then tried in vein to prompt the audience to sing along to the remainder of the song, their ’80s hit Paradise City, without music but were eventually forced to walk off the stage.

Axl Rose will never change, I drove tractor-trailer for GNR 1991 world tour. 4 months of his crap of going on late and playing to long, fights with band mates, then in St. Louis, the riot cause he didn’t want his picture taken. The crowd distroyed the venue and PA systems, amps. We sat in Dallas, TX for 6 days so they could repair staging and gear. GNR is an awesome band, but AXL really needs to get over himself.
Yeah, another once-great artist whose talent has been outweighed by his ego!
