Garbage Album Five

It has been almost seven years since Garbage released their fourth album Bleed Like Me and now the band are set to return later this year with a brand new record. During their hiatus singer Shirley Manson took a supporting role in the hit US series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, while drummer Butch Vig produced albums for Green Day and Foo Fighters.

“We got dumped on a label who did not give one flying fuck about us,” Manson told Rolling Stone in October. “And it just became a very joyless process. Something that should be really incredible, exciting and adventurous became like a noose around our neck. And we sort of turned in on each other as a result, I think.”

As a result of their experience with their label, Garbage have opted to self-release their fifth album. In a statement issued on the band’s Facebook page they said; “Today we announced the launch of our record label, STUNVOLUME. We will self-release our upcoming studio album later this spring. We have had our fill of greedy corporate interest. We don’t like how they do business. This time we are going to do it our way.”

“STUNVOLUME will be distributed by Fontana in the United States. Around the world, we will release our album on STUNVOLUME via licensing deals with Cooperative Music in Asia, Europe and Latin America, Liberator Music/The Mushroom Group in Australia and New Zealand, Sony in Japan and Universal Canada in Canada. Our aim is to put out music that is pure of heart.”
