Sony Music’s Australian label have been gathering together a selection of artists from around the world to contribute songs for a benefit album in aid of floods in Queensland and surrounding areas earlier this month that has caused overwhelming damage and loss of life. The compilation, Flood Relief – Artists for the Flood Appeal, will be a three-disc set that will include fifty-nine tracks, with proceeds being donated to the Salvation Army Flood Appeal. Amongst the artists that have contributed music are Foo Fighters, Bob Dylan, Midnight Oil, Bruce Springsteen, Kings of Leon, Bon Jovi and the late Jeff Buckley.
The album was initially intended as a double CD, but due to the amount of artists offering their support (which also included pop stars such as Beyonce and Sting) an extra disc was added to the line-up. “The floods in Queensland and throughout Australia have been devastating and affected the lives of so many people across the country. Sony Music Australia is once again proud to offer its support at a time of need through the release of this benefit CD,” says Sony Music Entertainment Australia & New Zealand’s CEO Denis Handlin. “We have been overwhelmed by the response by both local and international artists wanting to contribute to the cause and our thanks go to all those artists and songwriters for generously donating their tracks royalty free. We also thank Sony DADC Australia for kindly donating the CD manufacturing.”
Flood Relief – Artists for the Flood Appeal will be released on Monday, January 24th.
