Opinions on Bret Michaels seem more mixed than ever these days. To many of his old fans he is considered a sell out, whoring himself on reality TV and performing duets with Miley Cyrus and on American Idol. Yet deep down he has never lost his rock ‘n’ roll roots and even when making cringe-worthy appearances on awful shows he is still trying to rock out like he is twenty-five again. Yet his surprisingly swift recovery after both a brain hemorrhage and mild stroke (which would result in him winning Celebrity Apprentice soon after leaving hospital) should definitely be applauded.
Having already made his way back to the stage and making a good recovery, the thirty-seven year old made an appearance this week on the Lopez Tonight chat show, in which the audience paid tribute to the star by wearing his trademark bandana. Whilst his group Poison have struggled to regain popularity over the last fifteen years, Michaels has made something of a comeback over the last twelve months, although his days of Talk Dirty to Me and Nothin’ But a Good Time seem long behind him. Rather amusingly, Lopez showed a photograph that had been published in People, in which a bedridden Michaels was lying in his hospital bed still ‘rockin’ the bandana.’
Michaels is set to tour both solo and alongside both Lynyrd Skynyrd.
