BCC Live Debut

With two of the four members having been born and raised in the so-called Black Country region of the Midlands in the UK, Black Country Communion feels very much like a homegrown band to the local fans. With the group set to make their live debut at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall this evening, and a second show in London tomorrow, it seemed to make sense to frontman Glenn Hughes and drummer Jason Bonham that they start their tour where they grew up.

Speaking to BBC‘s Midlands Today, Hughes explained; “I was playing here when I was fifteen years old – in this venue, the very same venue – so for me I got my wish and Jason got his wish – we got to open our account, if you will, in the Black Country where we should have done. And here we are!”

Regarding the pressure the band have been under, due to Hughes’ involvement with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Bonham’s association with Led Zeppelin, the latter added; “You hope that it would be a success. You feel, “Yeah, on paper it should be.” But also it makes it a bigger target for people to ridicule or point fingers at.”
