Almost Famous to Return to the Big Screen in Brixton

Prior to beecoming a filmmaker, Cameron Crowe first cut his teeth as a teenage journalist for Rolling Stone. His passion for music remained throughout his movie career, with his 1992 drama Singles reflecting the rising grunge scene. Arguably his most personal film, however, was his 2000 rock ‘n’ roll flick Almost Famous, a semi-fictional account of a teenage music fan who joins popular group Stillwater on tour, eventually joining in with the groupies and excess of life on the road.

“His heart and soul is in rock ‘n’ roll, but his style is intimate and personal,” stated an early article on the movie from Los Angeles Magazine. The film, which co-starred Kate Hudson, Jason Lee and newcomer Patrick Fugit, was eventually released as a two-disc set, which included an extended and superior “Untitled” cut of the movie.

The Ritzy Picturehouse in Brixton, England, will be screening Almost Famous alongside Hal Ashby’s 1971 drama Harold And Maude this Sunday, June 17th, commencing at 1pm. For more information and to book tickets visit the official site!
