Roxx Gang

Roxx Gang short-lived success came in 1989 with their minor rock hit Scratch My Back which received regular airplay on various music shows of the era. Formed in Florida in 1985 by singer Kevin Steele and guitarist Eric Carrol the group recorded a ten-track demo two years later entitled Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em, which would feature many of the tracks that would later be released on their debut album Things You’ve Never Done Before. Interestingly, Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em would eventually be released officially a decade later, long after Roxx Gang had disbanded. The final line-up for the group would consist of Steele, bassist Roby Strine, guitarists Jeff Taylor and Wade Hays and drummer David James Blackshire, who would all perform on their first album.

The record would be released by Virgin Records in 1988 but it would not be until Scratch My Back tapped into the same market that L.A. Guns had conquered that they finally found success. Produced by Beau Hill, who had previously worked with Ratt, Things You’ve Never Done Before would allegedly earn sell around 2,500 copies worldwide and their first single would soon be followed by the less successful No Easy Way Out. Despite their popularity feuds within the group resulted in them going their separate ways, although Steele would record a second album, The Voodoo You Love, with a different line-up in 1995, before eventually changing their name to Mojo Gurus some time later.
