The lifespan of Kill City Dragons was brief and the band recorded only a handful of songs, so their legacy in the annals of heavy metal is somewhat irrelevant. The group was formed in London by American guitarist Steve Von Saint, who had previously performed with sleaze rockers Angels in Vain, the band that at one time also featured future Faster Pussycat and L.A. Guns bassist Kelly Nichols. The band was completed by frontman Billy G. Bang, drummer Danny Fury and bassist Dave Tregunna, who had played with punk legends Sham 69 and The Lords of the New Church with former Dead Boys singer Stiv Bators and The Damned‘s Brian James. Their first release would be the four-track 12″ EP Let ‘Em Eat Cake!, which they distributed through their own label, Wild Boy Records.

The EP contained four tracks, two of which (I Don’t Want (Anything from You) and Devil Calling) would become fan favourites. Let ‘Em Eat Cake! had little success, despite its association with The Lords of the New Church (Bator would pass away in 1990), and soon the band commenced work on their debut album. Taking the four songs from the EP, their eponymous full length release would include an additional three live tracks. With little new material, the album failed to chart and the band struggled to continue. With their future uncertain, Bang and Tregunna were approached by former Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy for his new group Shooting Gallery with drummer Paul Garisto of The Psychedelic Furs. Saint and Fury retained the rights to the name Kill City Dragons but no further recordings were released. Soon afterwards, Fury joined Vain (who at that time were enjoying minor success after the release of their debut album No Respect in 1989), whilst Saint reunited with Tregunna after the demise of Shooting Gallery for Endorfiends.
